Help with early stages of cold sores! PLEASE?

I noticed a tingling in my lip this morning and went straight to walgreens for a over the counter treatment. It feels better sort of. I kept reading that toothpaste does not and does help cold sores. I want this thing gone before it shows! PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
