Cold sores?

I get cold sores way too often, it’s embrassing?

The last cold sore I had was huge and I went to the doctor with it. He gave me a treatment for it and it still never went away until a whole week. I hate being seen with them, and now I’ve got another one. The doctor told me they are random and nothing can be done about them. I don’t have any physical contact with any other people, I’m 17 and wope up today and applied the lip balm as usual and later on a cold sore appeared. If a girl gets cold sores, but she uses carmex, can you get them from her?

My lips were dry which is why I’m scared because I heard that hsv-1 can be passed on through a crack in dry skin and through “asymptomatic shedding”, which is when it appears there’s no signs of an outbreak. I’m sorry if I come across as paranoid. I don’t have the antibodies for it, so I’m very scared.

What is the percentage of the chance of oral herpies spread?
