Cold sores?

I have a cold sore on my lip that makes half of lip look like I just had a injection.
Anyway they have poped up on my lower lip every couple of months since I was five months along with my daughter.She is 10 1/2 months now,and I am still getting em every few months.
I dont have a STD,so I would like to know why I keep getting these crapy things espcially since I had only had a cold sore one before when I was fourteen,and that was from a first kiss.
Also if anyone knows of any herbal treatments for this it would be most welcomed.

cold sores are an expression of herpes simplex virus, and it comes from either being infected by another person with the virus, or from having had chicken pox as a child. (same virus, in the varicella family) The virus, once it invades your system, lives in the nerve tissues and there is no cure. There are more effective treatments now however. If your cold sores are very large, uncomfortable and occur frequently, talk to your doctor about options like L-Lysine or Valtrex. If they are small and infrequent, you can manage them yourself using Abreva(an otc product).

Don’t fight this …its not worth it. Get your Dr to Order Zovirex. As soon as you feel that familiar tingle and teenie itch… put it on. and it won’t get any bigger. all that over the counter crap wasted my money and P*issed me off. This is expensive and covered by insurance. Just get it quit fighting it. You will be so much happier than with that puffy sore.

i have had cold sores for 20 years….once you get them you have them for life.
Different things can cause coldsores to appear
-Make sure you dont get chapped lips
-Dont share lipstick/chapstick or drinks with people if avoidable
-stress can sometimes cause them
a lot of the topical stuff doesnt work for me. I got my doctor to prescribe me Valtrex. As soon as you feel the initial tingle feeling you take the pills (then again 12 hours later) and it should prevent them from forming.
also these can be transfered from mouth to mouth and mouth to genitals so you haved to be careful with them

Lysine is supposed to be good for the treatment of cold sores.
